We are working as the internal recruitment partner for our client, a pioneering VC-backed, UK based robotics software start-up dedicated to transforming how developers and businesses bring robotics to life. Our client is on a mission to make robotics programming simpler and more accessible with their cutting-edge SDK.

We are presenting an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior QA Engineer to play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions for robotic platforms.

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of test automation frameworks, perform rigorous software testing, and drive continuous improvement in QA processes. You will work closely with the wider team and key stakeholders to ensure industry standards are met and best practices in software testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain automated and manual testing frameworks to ensure robust software quality.
  • Lead the design and execution of comprehensive test strategies, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Collaborate with software developers and product managers to identify potential quality risks and define test requirements.
  • Perform in-depth debugging and root cause analysis, working closely with development teams to resolve defects efficiently.
  • Enhance and enforce best practices in software testing, including CI/CD pipeline integration, code quality reviews, and version control management.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and defect reports.
  • Monitor software performance metrics and contribute to performance tuning and optimisations.
  • Mentor and support junior QA engineers, ensuring quality and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, partners, and customers to align testing strategies with business objectives.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience in software QA, with a focus on automation.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Appium, etc.).
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript for test automation.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, software development life cycles (SDLC), and Agile development practices.
  • Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues and collaborate across teams.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the robotics, automation, or embedded systems industry.
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or similar.
  • Familiarity with security testing principles and tools.
  • Experience working in a start-up or scale-up environment.
  • ISTQB or equivalent certification in software testing.
