We are looking for a new colleague for our UK R&D site at MIRA for the following position:

MODULE LEADER

who will oversee the full product development lifecycle of safety-critical mechatronic systems. They will be responsible for end-to-end system integration, ensuring design robustness, functional safety, and seamless cross-functional collaboration

The successful candidate will be a technically savvy leader with deep engineering expertise to influence design decisions, customer features, system architecture, and validation strategies.

Just a few of the tasks you will meet during your daily work:

  • Act as the Design Authority for the assigned mechatronic system module, ensuring a robust technical foundation from concept to production.
  • Support Requirements Management dissemination and creation of the PDS and GS Specs.
  • Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with functional safety (ISO 26262), cybersecurity (ISO 21434), and industry regulations.
  • Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, and manufacturing feasibility reviews.
  • Supplier Engagement: Work closely with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to define system and component requirements, ensuring technical alignment and manufacturability.
  • Patents and IP Protection: Create and build upon our patent portfolio. Working with our teams and legal ensure innovation is being protected to safeguard our future OEM and Aftermarket revenues.
  • Manage the technical product roadmap, ensuring timely decision-making and adaptation to changing business needs.
  • Drive change management, ensuring all design updates are validated, documented, and seamlessly implemented across the product lifecycle.

We think that to be successful in this position you need:

  • Strong experience in safety-critical mechatronic system development (automotive, aerospace, medical devices, etc.).
  • Pneumatics, fluid power and EES product design and development,
  • Deep technical knowledge across mechanical, electronics, embedded software, and system integration.
  • Experience in functional safety standards ISO 26262 (Medini), APQP, and compliance processes.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and drive design convergence.
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools, calibration software, and over-the-air update systems.
  • Strong understanding of DFMEA (xFMEA), DVP&R, design validation, and verification.
  • Experience working with suppliers, SQE teams, manufacturing plants, and sales/commercial stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of change management processes and ability to drive effective design revisions.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Highly methodical and process oriented.
  • Systems high level thinking with customer focus, while having ability to zoom down into the details.
  • Keen desire to learn
  • Good time-management skills
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude with ability to communicate ideas clearly
