Sales / Estimating Manager (Structural Steelwork) Location: Remote – anywhere in the UK north of Leicestershire Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced Estimating Manager ready to take on a leadership role within a dynamic structural steelwork team?
We’re recruiting for a Sales / Estimating Manager to play a key role in converting sales opportunities into live projects. You’ll be responsible for leading the estimating process, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing while managing and developing a high-performing Estimating and Sales team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Estimating and Sales Team to deliver departmental targets
Manage all incoming project enquiries
Negotiate with sub-contractors and suppliers to achieve competitive pricing
Personally convert a minimum of 3 enquiries per week, while supporting the wider team
Work closely with clients, engineers, architects and internal teams
Attend pre-tender interviews and post-tender presentations
Prepare accurate and timely reports on pipeline activity
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and consultants
Regularly review team performance and provide coaching and feedback
What We’re Looking For
BSc/HNC in Building Studies or equivalent experience
Experience in structural and/or civil engineering within a construction environment
Familiarity with project pricing for steel structures (50 – 3,000 tonnes)
Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings
Commercial awareness and value engineering experience
Experience using Tekla for constructability review (advantageous)
Confident communication and leadership skills
Competence with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
Self-motivated and capable of working under own initiative
Previous line management experience
Chartered status (MCIOB or RICS) and steelwork design knowledge are desirable but not essential.
