Civils Working Ganger/Team Leader

McGinley are seeking a motivated and experienced Civils Working Ganger to join our paving team.

Role Overview:As a Civils Working Ganger within our paving team, you will be responsible for leading a team of groundworkers in the successful completion of civil engineering projects. Your role will involve working in and supervising day-to-day operations, ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to, and maintaining high levels of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a team of groundworkers, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
• Coordinate and assist with the laying of paving materials, including slabs, kerbs, and other hard landscaping elements.
• Oversee and contribute to general civils works, including excavation, drainage, and sub-base preparation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on-site.
• Liaise with site managers and other relevant stakeholders to ensure project timelines are met.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship and ensure quality control throughout the project.
• Assist with the training and development of team members, promoting best practices and safety.
• Ensure efficient use of materials and tools on-site to reduce waste and improve productivity.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in civils or paving works, with a solid understanding of paving techniques and processes.
• Previous experience as a Ganger or in a supervisory role within the construction industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
• CSCS Card (Essential).
• SMSTS, GOLD CSCS or SSSTS qualification (essential).
• Full UK driving license (Desirable).
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures and regulations on-site.
